Hi! I'm Lachie, an environment and technical artist based in Sydney.
[Modeling and Tool Development]
Over the last few years I have had the privilege to discover 3D art and learn about all of it's aspects. In doing so I have discovered a deep love and passion not only for 3D modeling in Maya and blender, but also a passion for developing tools for these programs to speed up my work flow.
[Texturing & Modularity]
I have grown to love programs such as substance designer and painter, and greatly enjoy the process of not only creating modular assets for use in game, but also for creating reusable modular tools such as smart materials and generators to speed up my asset development pipeline.
[Tech Art / Engine Skill]
When I started working with unreal engine I was immediately drawn to the shader graph, working to create flexible shaders that added both extra functionality and optimization to the games I worked on, the ability to create substances and surfaces beyond the realm of what could be created with simple modeling and texturing was captivating, since then I have continued to create with unreal engine, delving into blueprints and tool development to improve all aspects of my work. more recently I have worked to expand my skill set by delving into unity's shader graph for both URP and HDRP, and have began learning some basic C++ to stretch what I can do in unreal even further.
